At OOAK Artistry, we are dedicated to showcasing exceptional, one-of-a-kind creations. Our mission is to provide a platform for local artists to share their unique stories and craftsmanship with the world. Through our curated collections, we aim to foster a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures and traditions that shape our community.
This month, we celebrate the intricate beadwork and bold vision of Deanna Burch, a cherished member of our extended creative family, and the powerful, nature-inspired artistry of Kristen, an Ojibwe beadwork artist whose work speaks to identity, resistance, and beauty through traditional craft.
Read on to learn more about their upcoming markets, view previews of their work, and get a glimpse of what’s next for our growing community of artists and collaborators.
Deanna Burch
We are so excited to introduce our first featured artist for OOAK (One Of A Kind): Deanna Burch. Deanna is not only a cherished friend and family member, but also an incredibly talented and badass beader whose passion and creativity shine through in every piece she creates. Her work is bold, intricate, and deeply rooted in cultural tradition, and we are honoured to share that we now have a dedicated section the OOAK gallery showcasing Deanna Burch's beautiful beadwork.
You can also meet Deanna in person and browse her stunning creations at the Indigenous Pop-Up Shop Market happening on May 10th, located at 110 Hillside Avenue from 10 AM to 3 PM. The market will take place on the Lkwungen-speaking traditional territory, and we gather there with deep respect and gratitude. Don’t miss the chance to see Deanna’s vibrant handcrafted pieces at Red Acorn Gallery's booth!

Kristen Dealy
We are also incredibly happy to welcome Kristen Dealy to the OOAK Artistry community! Kristen is an Ojibwe artist living and creating on Turtle Island. Her pieces are inspired by her heritage, social awareness and nature.
Each bead in Kristen's work is meticulously placed, creating intricate patterns that tell stories of identity and cultural pride. Her use of vibrant colours and natural materials reflects a deep respect for the natural world. We invite you to explore Kristen's collection and experience the beauty and significance of her beadwork firsthand. Join us at the OOAK Artistry booth at the upcoming Cream Market, happening on Saturday, May 24th in Fernwood Square.
